چکیده

This report presents the results of applying an improved autocorrelogram migration to Exxon's Friendswood RVSP data. The improved autocorrelogram migration method is implemented in both the depth and time domains. Two imaging conditions are used: a primary re ection imaging condition and a surface-related ghost imaging condition. The raw traces in the common receiver gather domain are autocorrelated to generate the autocorrelograms. The nal primary and ghost autocorrelograms are obtained by F-K ltering, and the resulting primary and ghost images in the depth domain are compared with well log data. Results show that the primary autocorrelogram migration yields a better correlation with the well log synthetic seismogram. The results for time-domain autocorrelogram migration are also obtained and show a good correlation with the surface-stacked section.

Interferometric Multiple Migration of Union Pacific Data

Drill-bit seismic data can provide valuable information about reflector characteristics and prediction ahead of the drill bit. In this paper, I apply the interferometric migration method, which both includes crosscorrelogram and autocorrelogram migration, to Union Pacific Resources Corporation (UPRC) drill-bit data. Here, the data are recorded on the earth’s free surface while a tri-cone drill-...

NIOC’s requirements for data processing and interpretation in challenging geological environment

The time for easy oil discovery and production for National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) is over. This means that the oil is no longer discovered in structurally simple, i.e., almost flat environments like south of Khuzestan province (south west of Iran). This comes along with the fact that Iran’s biggest oil reservoirs are in this area, and they are passing half of their life cycle. These giant ...

Reverse Time Migration = Generalized Diffraction Stack Migration

The standard reverse-time migration (RTM) algorithm is usually described as zero-lag correlation of the backprojected data with the source wavefield. The data are back-projected by a finite-difference algorithm, where each trace acts as a source-time history of a point source at the geophone location. This is a simple and easily understood migration method, but appears inflexible to improvement...

3-D depth migration via McClellan transformations

Three-dimensional seismic wavefields may be extrapolated in depth, one frequency at a time by two-dimensional convolution with a circularly symmetric, frequencyand velocity-dependent filter. This depth extrapolation, performed for each frequency independently, lies at the heart of 3-D finite-difference depth migration. The computational efficiency of 3-D depth migration depends directly on the ...
